Dryopteris tokyoensis 6a kiusiana appear in late winter/earlyThe Tokyo wood fern is one of those little known, but splendid, deciduous woodland ferns, native to woodlands from Honshu to Shikoku and across to Korea. Similar to a dwarf Dryopteris x celsa, the tight, 3' wide, deer resistant clump of upright, narrow, 3' long fronds provide a nice vertical accent in the woodland garden. We think Dryopteris tokyoensis is an easy to grow and distinctive deer resistant fern for the woodland shade garden.
